| Background: |
Andrew Carr began his dance training under the guidance of Debra Rogo with the Mid-Columbia Regional Ballet. He continued his training with Washington School of Ballet. Andrew received a B.S. in dance at Indiana University while studying with Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux. For over 16 years Andrew worked as a professional dancer and guest artist. Some of Andrew’s more memorable roles are as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Phlegmatic in Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, the principal in Paula Weber’s Carmina Burana, the Grand Duke in Anthony Tudor’s Offenbach and the Underworld, and the principal role in Lila York’s Gloria. He has performed with the Kansas City Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, and the Washington Ballet. Andrew has been a dance instructor for the last fifteen years. While at Indiana University Andrew managed and taught for the Indiana University Pre-College Program under the guidance of Virginia Cesbron. In 2002 he was a master guest instructor for the TATD annual convention. Over the last several years Andrew has given numerous master classes in Ballet, injury prevention, and conditioning for dance around the US and is currently a private technique coach to a number of professional dancers around the country.
In addition to his degree in dance Andrew holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Indiana University. Recently Andrew received his Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at George Mason University with a focus in structural genomics and protein structural analysis. He is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in Bioinformatics and Genomics at UNCC.
Andrew teaches ballet, contemporary ballet, technique, pedogogy, partnering and technique at AAD. |
