K) Daphne Kendall - Ballet
Specialty:  Intermediate & Advanced Ballet and Pointe

Background:  Daphne received extensive ballet training at Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, PA where she was in residence. She also studied ballet at Duke University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in nthropology. As a senior, she participated in the Duke in New York Arts Program where she lived and studied in New York City. During this time she studied dance at David Howard Dance Center. Daphne also completed an internship at the School of American Ballet, working in the PR/Fund-Raising Department. Daphne has attended teaching seminars at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet over the last 10 years, learning the curriculum developed by Marcia Dale Weary. She has extensively studied Marcia Weary's method, as it is a tried and true method (over 200 alumni of CPYB are dancing in major ballet companies inthe US and Europe). In 1996, Daphne attended a teacher's workshop at the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia (school of the Kirov Ballet). Although she doesn't teach Vaganova method, she has incorporated aspects of it into her classwork. In 1993, Daphne opened Ballet Arts Academy. She has had students accepted into summer programs at School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest, Harid Conservatory, Kirov Academy in Washington, DC, and CPYB. Several of her students have been awarded scholarships to study at these summer programs. Daphne teaches ballet at our Albemarle studio.
