2009 Competition Results

The competition dancers from AAD had their final competition in Charleston, SC April 3-5.  The dancers not only competed but attended ten hours of classes from master teachers & choreographers from all over the country.

Jessical Stamper received the award for best choreography for the mini group 'Wonderful World'

Sarah Curlee & Valencia Williams received the Hollywood Vibe scholarships from over one hundred dancers ages 9-11.  These scholarships were given based on technique and classroom performance.

 

 

The I Love Dance competition held in Columbia, SC was another successful showing for our dancers:

Leigh Roush received the musicality/choreography award for 'Tom's Diner'

Mattie Badgett received the 'outstanding dancer of the day'

 

 

The Showoffs continued their successful competition season at the Dance Educators of America competition & workshop March 14-15.  Our dancers received the overall highest score in every age group in the solo divisions and received numerous scholarships for their technical performance in the workshops!!

The master teachers/judges recognize several numbers with special recognition for outstanding technical execution, showmanship, etc:

Receiving awards for outstanding technique were: Mattie Badgett, William Lassiter, Sarah Curlee and the group of Wonderful World

Receiving awards for outstanding performance quality were:  Jonas Roush and  Valencia Williams, the duet -I'm Out and the group of Rock On

Courtney Bailey - received the outstanding choreography award for the modern group - Raindrops

Mattie Badgett, Valencia Williams, William Lassiter, Hailey Bates, Sarah Curlee and Brooke Armstrong received full scholarships to study at the Dance Educators of America summer dance intensives in NYC, Las Vegas and Orlando.

Mattie Badgett and Sarah Efird received scholarships to the summer ballet intensive held at UNLV this summer based on their level of technique demonstrated during the ballet workshop.

The AAD staff is extremely proud of the efforts of these dancers!!

 

 

Everyone did a fantastic job at the Access Broadway competition.  The students learned alot in the two days of workshops.  Check out our photo gallery later this week for photos.  Please forward any photots that you have to us so that we may post those also!  The dancer's next competition is Feb 13-15 in Albemarle.

Albemarle Academy of dance had the 4th overall highest combined group scores and 2nd overall highest combined solo scores out of seventeen studios!
