Parents and Students
Thank you so much for choosing AAD for your performing arts education. Our staff is so excited about sharing our love of the arts with you during this dance year.
Our first two weeks of class have gone very well! The students have been very enthusiastic and eager to learn. We will continue to spend the first few weeks of class evaluating the students in order to make sure that they are in the best possible class for their needs and abilities.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Mrs. Leigh is generally available at the Albemarle studio weekdays from 9:30-1:00, in addition to regular class time.
If you would like to speak with your child's instructor, we do ask that you complete a contact form so that they may contact you and have plenty of time to answer any questions that you may have. Our instructors do teach consecutive classes and their students are dependant upon them to get classes started on time. You may email us at anytime and we will get back to you within twenty-four hours.

From Mrs. Bambi
For those that don't know me, I am Ms. Bambi. Originally from Jacksonville Florida and a dance studio owner myself for 15 years, my husband and I moved to Mount Gilead seven years ago. I was fortunate to become involved with Leigh and taught classes for her until last year when I decided to contribute in a different way - (mainly, because I now have 5 grand children in Florida that I like to visit often). My job, now, is to integrate music, dance history, musical theater, audience etiquette, and other fun and educational projects into the dance class that will help make your child's experience at Albemarle Academy a well rounded one. We will be starting out this year by having the younger kids decorate a paper plate to look like them. When they bring them back to class, their teacher will hang them around the perimeter of the mirror. This way they will have an audience to watch them as they learn! We will also discuss how we act as an audience member and what Theater Etiquette is. We want people to appreciate us when we perform so we need to learn how to appreciate all kinds of performers! The week of Halloween we will turn those plates into mask for the kids to wear home! That week they will discover how in the beginning of ballet that most all roles were performed by men and they wore mask to portray their characters!
There will also be STAR STUDENTS chosen by teachers for SEPT/OCT. The teachers alternate choosing and are only allowed to pick one child from all of their classes combined. They will have their picture put on the STAR STUDENT board and will receive a certificate, sticker and pencil all saying what great students they have been for the first two months. Usually they are judged on having appropriate dancewear, hair as required, hard work, good attitude and working well within the group.
If you have any suggestions please let me know! Looking forward to an exciting year with your children!
Mrs. Bambi

City Youth Ballet
AAD is proud to be the home of 'The City Youth Ballet'. This non-profit youth ballet is dedicated to increasing awareness and involvement of youth in performing arts in Stanly and surrounding counties. CYB exists to connect and engage youth, educators and families to the performing arts in innovative, meaningful and participatory ways. CYB also serves the community by providing educational workshops for local school arts programs and acts as a liaison to introduce artists to our community.
In order to provide these services to our community, CYB depends on the generosity of sponsors and the support of the community.
Tis the season for the 2nd Annual City Youth Ballet Nut Sale. There was such a wonderful response last year to this fundraiser that CYB has decided to continue on with this sale in an "Off Nutcracker" year. This year we will be offering 3 products: Pecan Halves, Whole Almonds and Sliced Almonds. All products will sale at $7/lb. Everyone, this is an excellent price to purchase these bulk nuts by the pound. Ask anyone who bakes homemade goodies and they will tell you that sliced almonds by the pound will run upwards of $12 -$13/lb. You may order your nuts at the studio or send us an email. If you would be interested in helping with this event, selling nuts or placing a nut sale display at your business or office, please let us know. Your support is greatly appreciated..
