Parent viewing week starts Febuary 1-5 (more information to follow).

Christmas Celebrations
There will be a small Christmas celebrations in our classes this week (the last 10-15 minutes of class). We will provide some small treats for the students. Parents are welcome to send items, but please provide enough for the entire class.
The staff and competition team are sponsoring a needy family this Christmas. Please let us know if anyone would like to provide or donate any items.

What We're Learning Featured classes for this month: Musical Theatre/Voice, Modern dance and adult ballet:
Mrs. Nicole's beginning and intermediate Musical Theatre/Voice classes are for ages 6 and up. Each month the classes have learned about a different musical and focused on a particular musical number from each show. The students have learned 'Day by Day' from the musical 'Godspell' and 'Circle of Life' from the musical 'Lion King'. They have been exploring the different roles involved in the technical aspect of a production and beginning work in improvisation.
Mrs. Leigh's intermediate and advanced modern classes have been focusing on composition and choreography. The students have used their own imagination combined with design elements such as tempo, quality, shape, space, weight, dynamics and rhythm to create movements, combinations and eventually full-length pieces. The students plan to present their work in a showcase in early February. These dancers have also continued their study of Horton and Limon techniques.
In adult ballet, the students are eager learners and are progressing quickly! They are learning the correct placement and alignment of their bodies, hip rotation, foot placement and breath control. They are learning basic technique at the barre as well as adagio and petite allegro in the center. Watch out Sugarplum Fairy...these ladies can plie, balance, pique, releve, tendu, passe, chase, pas de bourree and pas de chat:) All of this after only three classes!! We hope to continue this class after Christmas vacation - please let us know if you are interested in joining us.
