Information, Instructions, News
Our new interactive live website for our students www.aadlive.com will launch Monday, March 23rd. It will provide links to our live classes, supplemental lessons, games and activities for each age group, and up to date announcements.
Through the site, you will be able to schedule individual consultations with your/your child's instructor via phone, zoom, FaceTime or in person. The instructors will use this time to answer your questions, give student corrections, offer individual training plans, coach specific skills, or just connect with you or the student. By using the site, you may also make private appointments to meet with Mrs. Hillary in order to take care of summer or fall registration or any other business matters. This service is part of your class and we urge you to take advantage of it.
We will send out specific information detailing how to navigate and take advantage of the website prior to Monday.
Since we will be utilizing the postal service to mail activities, learning supplements and some special surprises to our dancers, please take a moment to login to your parent portal via our regular website www.albemarleacademyofdance.com to verify your mailing address.
We will be running a majority of our classes virtually, using Zoom as the platform. Dancers will be able to see their instructor and their classmates. You will first need be to sign up for a free account on the Zoom website.
From there, in order to do this successfully and with the least amount of error, we kindly ask you to download zoom (from their website) on your computer or the zoom app from your device. To ensure a pleasant experience with your first Zoom Meeting, we highly encourage individuals to download and install the Zoom Application beforehand. Obviously, with dance being a visual art, the bigger the screen the better for your dancer. You may not be able to join class by simply just running Zoom through the website as not all browsers are supported. Once the download is complete, proceed with installing the Zoom application onto your computer.
To download and install the Zoom Application:
Go to https://zoom.us/download and from the Download Center, click on the Download button under "Zoom Client For Meetings".
This application will automatically download when you start your first Zoom Meeting.
Trial Class to Test Your Connection
To ensure that no one has problems logging in for the first time next week, we will be offering a "trial run" of virtual classes tomorrow, Thursday, March 19. We encourage you to go through the steps of getting everything ready and joining us online tomorrow anytime between 6pm-8pm (You will just have to log in to join us anytime during the 2 hour meeting time, check that we can hear and see each other, and then can log off.)
The below link will not work except for the during the times of 6pm-8pm Thursday, March 19.
Join Zoom Meeting for Trial Run - March 19 6pm-8pm
There will be a SEPARATE unique link for every live class. These links will emailed to you weekly as well as posted in the 'classes' section of the aadlive.comwebsite. You must use the specific log on to each of classes and/or rehearsals.
Next week, during the first few minutes of class, each teacher would like to speak with parents about the structure of the that particular class, the Zoom platform, as well as answer any questions you may have. Then the instructor will take roll and begin class.
Taking class in this manner will be new to all of us and will provide challenges that we are not used to. To maximize learning and focus of our dancers, please try to abide by the following rules for our virtual classes:
1) Please have your dancer take class in a space that is safe and deemed acceptable for dancing by you.
2) Please eliminate/minimize distractions for your dancer in the background.
3) Please have your dancer dress in their appropriate dance wear for their class. This will allow the instructor to see and correct their positions and movements.
4) Only dancers registered for classes should be participating in lessons. Please no friends or siblings.
5) Even though some dancers have friends in their classes, we encourage everyone to take class from their own house so teachers can see you better; one dancer per screen.
6) Remind dancers to minimize talking to allow all students to hear their instructor.
7) Please do not use any special backgrounds/filters in the Zoom app during classes.
We will be in the studio daily in order to assist you and answer any questions. Please feel free to call, email, or make an appointment to meet with us.
We are here to help!
We look forward to seeing all of our amazing students soon!
